Jets x Taylors "2009"

2009

Curren$y aka Spitta and Wiz Khalifa reunite on a joint project named 2009. This is there first full project together since How Fly marking a ten year re-union. The epic duo share and compliment each-others style and swank, making the music evenly balanced between underground and mainstream.

The beats delivered remind and make you reminisce of the first tape How Fly, which is now a classic. The clean cow-bells, island drums and xylophones, accompanied by heavy bass influence you to twist something potent and to pour up a glass of something smooth. Wiz and Curren$y conducted ground-breaking sounds and are taking credit for it on this album. Also mentioning the trend of rolling up paper jays, preferred to blunts. There are only two features on this album: Ty Dolla $ign and Problem, these two artists have been common collaborators in the past with Wiz and make a comfortable appearance on 2009. This album does exactly what it needs to. Nothing more, nothing less.

We (Taylors and Jets) have been anticipating this album for about four years now, and that makes this project that much better. Wiz Khalifa and Curren$y are kicking off their ‘2009’ Tour in Seattle today (2/8/19) , accompanied by DJ Bonics who is currently one of the DJ’s spinnin’ heat at our local radio station, Go95.3. Shouts DJ Bonics and Go95.3 for supporting the local hip-hop community.

How Fly

When How Fly first dropped it was unique to it’s time. No one else had been making music that included stoner fashion and the heavy usage of good weed and cold drinks, which was exciting because it was being done in a different and new manner. There was a whole new movement and style in Hip-hop. What was that change? Well clothes for starters, actually fit correctly compared to the D4L days of Laffy Taffy and tall white-tees. Another aspect was the sound, pronunciation and punctuation. This was a new thing in hip-hop at this time. You could understand every last word that both artists were spittin’.
