Cypress Hill
A legendary staple in hip-hop that we seem to forget about, Cypress Hill.
Cypress Hill is still bringing in crowds globally and yet we don't see many headlines in any publishing’s about the rap group. Members include B-Real, Sen Dog, Mellow Man Ace, DJ Muggs, and Eric Bobo.
Cypress Hill was hella popular with the stoners as well as the hip-hop community since the early 90’s, especially on the West Coast. This, some-what helped bridge a gap with hip-hop and it's multi-cultural background that it provides now.
Besides dropping their new album Elephants On Acid (September, 2018), this legendary group is packing out festivals in countries around the world. Their bilingual music that can be performed both in Spanish and English expands this groups loyal fan base drastically.
Cypress Hill is from an era where cannabis was highly frowned upon due the global-wide prohibition of the plant. They were one of many pioneers to be open about rolling up herb and getting stoned. Not only that, but being advocates for the legalization of marijuana. Imagine going from zero tolerance laws to being able to fabricate your own strain and dispensary.
Cypress Hill has stayed consistent since their 1990 debut album, Cypress Hill. Their sound is unique keeping that 90’s boom bap/ underground-grittiness. The latest release Elephants on Acid brings back some of that feeling that DJ Muggs produces.
