dogs, gods, dogs of hip-hop
Throughout hip-hop we see the trend of using dogs as cameos or props, but most importantly as friends.
Dogs in hip-hop became more popularized in the 90’s thanks to tha dog himself Snoop Dogg. His emphasis of dog characteristics transferring to humans was super clever. You can even say that he’s influenced the younger generation to use terms referencing dogs, for example: “that’s my bitch.” or “have you ever heard a dog talk?” or “I’m a dog.”. Not that these phrases haven’t been used before that time but this is when it really started to pick up. Dogs where a heavy aspect to gangster rap in the 90’s. You also had rappers like DMX literally barking over beats, that shit was OC as fuck.

Another key player to the the hip-hop and dog community is Big Boi, part of the Atlanta rapping duo Outkast. He owns Pitfall Kennels in ATL and is a major dog supplier for artists alike.
You also see how new generation hip-hop artists are still using dogs on album covers as well as flaunting them on their Instagram. One trend I noticed is the size of the dogs, back in the day it seems as though pit-bulls and bigger set dogs were admired more in the hip-hop community, now we see micro breeds like french bulldogs and other toy pups.
They are all still pretty gangster, so for you dog lovers and hip-hop heads here are some images with your favorite rappers and their dogs for you to enjoy!
